PREFACE:

The life of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass was a life of determination and lessons characterized by movements and activities in it. The care of Allah has taken notice of him, so he was successful in his activities and in his even while he stayed home since he started growing until he departed to the eternal world.

He had devoted all his time in good deeds, in benefiting others and whatever benefits him. He had help purified the hearts(of many) and had watered the gardens of brotherhood in Islam.

As well as revived the tradition of getting to know (one another) and helping in kindness and piety between between tribes and people both black and white in the entire parts of the world.
He (finally) departed to the abode of mercy of his Lord full of (spiritual) honor and success. And the results of his works is left flowing (like endless flood). So I will outline events and episodes of this life from birth to death.

SECTION ONE

HIS LIFE

FIRST:

HIS BIRTH & GROWTH

Sheikh Ibrahim Niass was born in Taibah Niasseen in the 1318 of the hijriyah calendar which coincided with November 8th, 1900. The birth place was a village in the region of Seen Saloom, it is about 58 mile away from Kaolack. And Sheikh was the only one born in that area, while all his brothers were born on the path of migration. It name used to be "Ta Ba", which means in Wollof language "you will leave", and Sheikh changed it to "Taibah", emulating the name of the messenger of Allah town's "Taibah in Madinah".

He grew up in the home of knowledge, piety and and renunciation. It was narrated that all his grandfathers and fathers were huffaz or had memorized the Qur'an and were Tafsir Scholars or exegists of it as well. It is a family that would treat the Qur'an with out most importance(care) since time immemorial, both in disseminating and teaching (it).

They would inherit from father, from grandfather and would not go to anyone to learn it. As well as da'wah or calling in the course of Allah and Jihad in the course of spreading knowledge and fighting against ignorance was their identity and religion.

And so it was not strange for learned scholars to emerge from them, the prominent among them was Sheikh Ibrahim Niass who grew up in its embrace replete with honor, worship, piety, generosity, protection, discipline and devout.

He learnt the Qur’an from his father and memorized it very well before he became ten years of age. And he took care of him since infancy until the last moment of his life.

He would read the Qur’an entirely twice a week. One by heart or memory at night and the other one looking in the Qur’an in the afternoon.

A prospect has appeared from him since his infancy he was smart, then he worked hard in pursuit of formal knowledge both operational and conceptual, until he benefited (himself)and benefited (others).

And he had reached the goal and intention and had delved deep in it and specialized in all its specialties, holding an unprecedented lead and Allah had created as a mercy to (his) servants and a benefitial being for every present father who was well established and famous reputation took the responsibility of his search for knowledge, until he learnt from him "Faraedil Fawaed", as well as links of (asrar and azkar) divine secrecy and litany. Then Allah opened for him a clear and full opening(of vast knowledge).

And he taught different kinds of knowledge. He also had divine knowledge that he did not learn from anyone but was inspired or taught by the One (Allah) who is most knowledgeable over all things.

And he used to be constantly close to his father Alhaji Abdullahi. And would spend his entire time in reading and revising his lessons at his place.

So one day, his father searched for him and couldn't find him at home, and he suddenly met him in front of his home and he rebuked him and his mother, saying: "What a loss of a son Ibrahim, I used to have hope or trust in you unlike other children, and you also started going out of the house?" Then Sheikh apologized to him and told him that he went out side to look for a candle, which had finished while he was studying.

And due to his keenness to study, whenever his father would send him to watch (supervise) the farm or garden, he would go early in the morning and climb on the tree and read his lesson loudly until sunset. So Sheikh had combined between seriousness and aptitude (gifted talent) in the course of his delving deep in various specially of knowledge and his gaining expertise in them.
