ON THE OCCASION OF HER BIRTHDAY, OUR BELOVED MOM SAYYDAH MARIAM IBRAHIM NIASS AL-KAOLACKI IN AN INTERVIEW WITH  A JOURNALIST REVEALED HOW SHE WAS NAMED MARIAM, AS WELL AS THE UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP SHE HAD HAD WITH SHEIKH AND HER YOUNGER BROTHER PAPA LAMIN!

عيد ميلاد سعيد ياسيدة الشيخة مريم بنت الشيخ إبراهيم انياس( خادمة القرآن الكريم )  

Happy birthday to Sayyadah Sheikha Mariyam Daughter of Maulana Sheikh Ibrahim Niass 

(Servant of the Qur'an)

# يحكى أن تاريخ ولادة الشيخة مريم انياس ، كانت الشيخ الإسلام الحاج إبراهيم انياس يقوم بتفسير القرآن الكريم .

كان قد أنهى التفسير سورة 18 الكهف قبل أن يبدأ سورة 19 مريم (مريم والدة عيسى عليه السلام) ، وأعلن له ولادة طفله.

# The story of the birth of Sayyadah Sheikhat Mariam Niass was narrated as, when Sheikhul Islam Ibrahim Niass was delivering tafsir or Quranic exegesis. So it happened that he just completed the tafsir of suratul Kahfi (the Cave 18) before he started the tafsir of suratu Mariam (Merry 19, Mariam mother of Issah Alail Salam), and the news about the birth of his baby was revealed to him.

سأل الشيخ إبراهيم انياس  عن جنس الطفل ، فقالوا له إنها فتاة.

قال إنني كنت أتوقع أن يكون لي ولد ، لكنها ستعيش ويكون لها مكانها بين الرجال ، وتتنافس معهم على المعرفة والاحترام والتقوى. وهكذا حمل الطفل الاسم الأول لمريم. نفس الاسم الأول لوالدة عيسى عليه السلام.

Sheikh Ibrahim Niass asked about the gender of the baby and they said she is a girl.

He said: However, I was hoping to have a boy, but she will grow up and have an outstanding position among men. And she will compete among them in knowledge, honor and piety. So this is how the baby had the name Mariam, same name of the mother of Issah Alail Salam.

روت الشيخة مريم بنت الشيخ إبراهيم انياس - حفظها الله ورعاها - علاقاته مع والدها في هذه الشروط في مقابلة.

Sheikhat Mariam the daughter of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass narrated her relationship with her father in an interview:

لقد قضيت الكثير من الأوقات الجيدة إلى جانب الشيخ إبراهيم انياس ولا أملك سوى ذكريات غير عادية معه.

كأب ، أحبني كثيرًا وكان دائمًا يحظى باحترام خاص بالنسبة لي.

I have spent more time being closer to Sheikh Ibrahim Niass and I could not remember but only some uncommon instances with him. Like a father, he loved me so much and extended special respect to me.

في الواقع ، عندما كان عمري 5 سنوات فقط ، قال الشيخ إبراهيم انياس إنه يريد أن يتولى شخصيًا مسؤولية تعليم القرآن.

In fact, when I became only five years of age, 

Sheikh Ibrahim Niass said he wants to have a person to take the responsibility of my Quranic studies.

في وقت الحج الأول إلى مكة ، قرر والدي أن يسلمني إلى شخص آخر ، حيث كان الوصول إلى مكة في تلك الأوقات محنة صعبة ، حتى أن الحجاج ماتوا أثناء الرحلة.

ثم أوكلني الشيخ إبراهيم انياس  إلى موريتاني يدعى أحمد ولد رباني ليعلمني القرآن.

So during his first hajj or pilgrimage to Makkah, Sheikh decided to leave me in the hands of another person, as the route and terrain to Makkah during those days was so difficult a task, to an extent that pilgrims would die in the course of the trip.

So Sheikh assigned a Muritanian teacher called Ahmad Wulud Rabbani to teach me the Qur'an.

واصلت معه حتى عاد والدي من مكة.

بعد ذلك ، جئت لأتقن القرآن بالكامل ، بينما علمني الشيخ إبراهيم انياس جنبًا إلى جنب مع بعض أسرار الكتاب المقدس.

ثم جاء دور أحمد ثيام ليضمن الجزء الباطني.

So I continued with him until my father returned from Makkah.

After that, I returned back to him to be able to master the Qur'an completely. And Sheikh taught me the Qur'an along with some divine secret of the sacred Book. 

Then came the role of Ahmad Cham to imbibe in me the esoterical (batiniyah) aspect of it.

عندما جئت لإتقان القرآن بالكامل ، كان والدي سعيدًا جدًا لأنه أعطاني صندوقين من الذهب.

So when I finally came to revise the entire Qur'an (by memory in front of him), my father was excited and he even donated to me two boxes of golden (jewelry).

دللني والدي كثيرًا لدرجة أنه كثيرًا ما اصطحبني معه في رحلاته.

My father pampered me so much that, more often (than not), he would take me with him on his trips (outside the country). 

إلى جانب تعلمي للقرآن ، كان والدي دائمًا يراقب روحانيتي ، وفي سن الخامسة عشر أخذت ورد الطريقة التجانية وهي إحدى نقاط الانطلاق لتعليم الشيخ أحمد تيجان و الشيخ إبراهيم انياس .

In terms of my Quranic studies, my father was monitoring my spirit (to see how motivated I was). So at 15 years of age, I accepted the (wird) litany of the sufi path of tijjaniyah, which is one of the starting points for the teachings of Sheikh Ahmadal Tijjani and Sheikh Ibrahim Niass.

وقبل أن أتزوج ، تأكد والدي من أنني قمت بتربية ، أي البحث عن الله وأسراره التي لا تعد ولا تحصى ".

And before I got married, my father made sure that I passed through the stages of "tarbiyah", spiritual tutelage, which is a quest for the divine knowledge of Allah and his mysteries which are countless.

في سن السادسة عشرة ، افتتحت أول ظهرة لها وبدأت بتعليم القرآن.

And at 16 years of age, she opened her own center and started teaching the Qur'an.

وقال شقيقها فضيلة الشيخ محمد الأمين الشيخ إبراهيم انياس( بابا ) :

" لقد فقدت والدتي في وقت مبكر جدًا وأسراني الشيخ إبراهيم انياس  لأختي ، وهي أمي ، لقد علمتني القرآن . كل ما تفعله الأم لطفلها ، فعلته لي ، عندما كان من المفترض أن أتزوج ، اختارت زوجتي ".

And her younger brother his eminence Sheikh Muhammadul Amin Ibrahim Niass (Baba) said:

"I had lost my mother at a very tender age and Sheikh left me under the care of my sister, and she (became) my mother (by action). She taught me the Qur'an. And whatever a mother would do to her child she did to me. Even when it became necessary for me to get married, she chose my wive for me."

سُمِّيتْ بخادمة القرآن ، جملتان تحددان شخصية الشيخة مريم بنت الشيخ إبراهيم انياس :

She was named khadimatul Qur'an or servant of the Qur'an, two sentences that indicate the personality of Sheikhat Mariam, daughter of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass:

قالت أنها تحب القرآن وتعاليمه كثيرا ، وتستمد كل سعادتها من تعليم القرآن للأطفال.

She said she loves the Qur'an a lot. Besides, she drives all her happiness by teaching children the Qur'an.

عمرا مديدا بالصحة الدائمة بفضل الله  !!!
