A (KHUTBAH) SERMON THAT SHEIKH IBRAHIM NIASS DELIVERED IN KHURTUM
(SUDAN), ENTITLED: KHUTBAH OF KHURTUM
🌹 FROM
SHARIF TIJJANI 🌹
In the Name of Allah the
Beneficent the Merciful
O Lord send your
felicitation upon the noble Prophet who has opened what has been locked and who
has sealed what has past. The helper of the Truth with the Truth. And the guide
to your straight path. And upon his household according to the level of his
[deserving] prerogative and his highest magnitude, with the level of the your
divine self-greatness in every time and in every while. Ameen!

All praises due to Allah the Almighty with his love to us and with his
immanence mercy, He had wanted to be know, so He manifested infinitely. So when
he manifested (himself) the messenger of Allah [PBUH] became the first servant
of Allah Almighty and the first one to remember Allah Almighty and the first to
love him and look at him and get closer to him. And He decreed servitude upon
him and he (the Prophet) was pleased with such servitude and was happy with it.
ﻓﻠﻬﺬﺍ ﻳﻘﻮﻝ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﺃﻧﺎ ﺳﻴﺪ ﻭﻟﺪ ﺁﺩﻡ ﻭﻻ ﻓﺨﺮ ﻻ ﻓﺨﺮ ﻟﻪ ﺑﺴﻴﺎﺩﺗﻪ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺑﻨﻲ ﺁﺩﻡ ﺇﻧﻤﺎ ﻓﺨﺮﻩ ﺑﺎﻟﻌﺒﻮﺩﻳﺔ ﻟﻠﻪ ﻓﻲ ﺣﻀﺮﺓ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﻷﻧﻪ ﻻ ﻳﻜﻮﻥ ﺳﻴﺪﺍ ﺇﻻ ﺇﺫﺍ ﻏﺎﺏ ﻋﻦ ﺣﻀﺮﺓ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﻭﺃﻣﺎ ﺇﺫﺍ ﻛﺎﻥ ﻓﻲ ﺣﻀﺮﺓ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻓﻼ ﻳﻜﻮﻥ ﺇﻻ ﻋﺒﺪﺍ. ﻭﻛﻮﻧﻪ ﻓﻲ ﺣﻀﺮﺓ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﺃﻓﺨﺮ ﻋﻨﺪﻩ ﻣﻦ ﻛﻮﻧﻪ ﻓﻲ ﻣﻘﺎﻡ ﺍﻟﺴﻴﺎﺩﺓ ﻋﻨﺪ ﺧﻠﻘﻪ ﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﻭﻟﻬﺬﺍ ﺗﺸﺮﻑ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﺑﺎﻟﻌﺒﻮﺩﻳﺔ ﻟﻠﻪ ﻭﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﺳﻤﺎﻩ ﻋﺒﺪﺍ ﻓﻲ ﺃﻋﻈﻢ ﻣﻘﺎﻣﺎﺗﻪ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ.
So this is why the Prophet (PBUH) said: I am the master of son of Adam
and it is not a pride[to say that]. There is no pride with his leadership upon
the sons of Adam, but his pride is with his servitude of Allah in the presence
of Allah Almighty. Because he would not be a leader unless he is absent from
the presence of Allah Almighty. But if he is in the presence of Allah, he would
not be anything but a servant (of Allah). And being in the divine presence of
Allah is more of a pride to him than being in leadership position towards the
creatures of Almighty. And with this that the Prophet(PBUH) honored with
servitude for the sake of Allah. And Allah Almighty had called,
"Abdan", a servant, in the greatest of his positions[PBUH].
ﺃﻋﻈﻢ ﻣﻘﺎﻣﺎﺗﻪ ﻣﻘﺎﻡ ﺍﻟﺪﻋﻮﺓ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﻭﻣﻘﺎﻡ ﻧﺰﻭﻝ ﺍﻟﻮﺣﻲ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﻣﻘﺎﻡ ﺇﺳﺮﺍﺋﻪ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ؛ ﺩﻧﺎ ﻓﺘﺪﻟﻰ ﻓﻜﺎﻥ ﻗﺎﺏ ﻗﻮﺳﻴﻦ . ﺑﻜﻞ ﻫﺬﻩ ﺍﻟﻤﻘﺎﻣﺎﺕ ﺳﻤﺎﻩ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ ﻋﺒﺪﺍ.
And the greatest of the statuses, is the status of (dawa'ah) calling in
course of Allah Almighty and the status of (wahyi) revelation upon him and the
status of his ascension (to the haven [PBUH]). He approached and came closer.
And he was at a distance of but two bow-length. So with all these statuses
Allah Almighty called him a servant.
👈ﻭﺇﻧﻪ ﻟﻤﺎ ﻗﺎﻡ ﻋﺒﺪ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪِ
👈ﺍﻟﺤﻤﺪ ﻟﻠﻪ ﺍﻟﺬﻱ ﺃﻧﺰﻝ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻋﺒﺪﻩ ﺍﻟﻜﺘﺎﺏ
👈ﺳﺒﺤﺎﻥ ﺍﻟﺬﻱ ﺃﺳﺮﻯ ﺑﻌﺒﺪﻩ ﻟﻴﻼ
And when the servant of
Allah stood up👈
Praise be to Allah who has
revealed a Book[Al-Qur'an]upon his servant👈
Glory be unto whom (Allah)
who took his servant on a journey👈
ﺑﻬﺬﻩ ﺍﻟﻤﻘﺎﻣﺎﺕ ﺳﻤﻲ ﺑﺎﻟﻌﺒﺪ ﻭﻟﻬﺬﺍ ﻛﺎﻧﺖ ﺍﻟﻌﺒﻮﺩﻳﺔ ﻟﻠﻪ ﺃﻓﺨﺮ ﺍﻟﻤﻘﺎﻣﺎﺕ ﻋﻨﺪﻩ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﻓﻠﻬﺬﺍ ﺃﻳﻀﺎ ﻋﺼﻢ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺃﻣﺘﻪ ﻣﻦ ﺍﻟﻀﻼﻟﺔ ﺑﺨﻼﻑ ﺍﻟﻨﺼﺎﺭﻯ ﺍﻟﺬﻳﻦ ﺿﻠﻮﺍ ﻭﻇﻨﻮﺍ ﺃﻥ ﻋﻴﺴﻰ ﻟﻤﺎ ﻗﺮﺑﻪ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻛﺎﻥ ﺍﺑﻨﺎ ﻟﻪ ﺃﻭ ﺷﺮﻳﻜﺎ ﻟﻪ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻷﻟﻮﻫﻴﺔ، ﻭﻛﻞ ﻫﺬﺍ ﺿﻼﻝ.
So he was called servant with these ranks and it is with this reason
that servitude for Allah’s sake is the best of ranks for him[PBUH]. And it is
for this reason also that Allah had protected his Ummah from misguidance,
unlike the Christians who have gone astray and assumed that when [Jesus] Issah
got closer to Allah he became his son or his partner in divinity and all this
is misguidance.
ﻓﺎﻟﺮﺳﻮﻝ ﺍﻟﻜﺮﻳﻢ ﻣﻊ ﺃﻧﻪ ﺃﺟﻞ ﻣﻘﺎﻣﺎ ﻣﻦ ﻋﻴﺴﻰ ﻭﺃﻋﻠﻰ ﻭﻫﻮ ﺳﻴﺪ ﻋﻴﺴﻰ ﻭﻋﻴﺴﻰ ﻳﺴﺘﻤﺪ ﻣﻨﻪ ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ، ﻣﻊ ﻫﺬﺍ ﻛﻼ ﻣﺎ ﺿﻠﺖ ﺃﻣﺘﻪ ﺣﺘﻰ ﺍﺗﺨﺬﻭﻩ ﺭﺑﺎ ﻛﻤﺎ ﺿﻠﺖ ﺍﻟﻨﺼﺎﺭﻯ . ﻭﻛﻠﻨﺎ ﻧﻌﻠﻢ ﺃﻧﻪ ﺳﻴﺪ ﺍﻟﻌﺒﺎﺩ ﺟﻤﻴﻌﺎ ﻭﻟﻜﻨﻪ ﻋﺒﺪ ﻟﻠﻪ ﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ.
So the Prophet [PBUH] in spite of his noble rank than Issah and the
highest is Sayyidina Issah and Issah seeks[blessings]. From him[Muhammad] peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him. In spite of all this his Ummah had never
been misguided to the extent of adopting a god, as the Christians did and got
misguided.

An American citizen spoke to me while on a journey in an airplane and
said to me: What is the different between us and you? We are Christians and you
are Muslims. We worship Issah and you worship Muhammad [PBUH], what is the
difference between us? I then answered him saying: This is the difference: We
do not worship Muhammad [PBUH], but rather our Lord and the Lord of Muhammad is
One. Muhammad is our clergy in servitude or worship. He is our leader in
worship and our leader in obedience to Allah, but he is a servant of Allah
Almighty like us, and this is how you would find Islam [our belief]. Our
religion is called Islam, it is not called "Muhammadan", as you are
referring to your religion Christianity; Because our religion is independent [of
any being] but for Allah Almighty [only], we and Muhammad are equal.

The questioner said to me: In America they do not have [people] who are
conveying this religion [Islam] to them [by then]. Verily our Prophet [PBUH] is
a servant of Allah Almighty. And he is the first servant of Allah Almighty. The
first to ever exist and the first to remember[invoke] Allah alone and worshiped
him before the advent of time and after the advent of time. Thousands of angels
worshiped him before some existence existed.
And this servant of the messenger of Allah[PBUH], Allah has chosen for
us and honored us by making us among his Ummah and making him our real
messenger. He is the messenger of everyone. He is the Prophet of the prophets.
He is the Messenger to all messengers and to all angels, Jinn and mankind. But
we are his Ummah [society], we have been earmarked because we are his Ummah
[PBUH].
Analysis:
Readers could observe the smart and simple answer Maulana Sheikh Barhama
gave that Christian American, where he said we are the same with the Prophet
s.a.w. are equal was the right answer to be given to such a person who
considers a man like Jesus as God and not yet a Muslim. However, Sheikh himself
made us know that our beloved Prophet s.a.w. is a man but an extraordinary man
unlike ordinary men like us all. And he knows that one has to be a Muslim to
understand this, else a non Muslim would infer from our reverence to Prophet
s.a.w, similar to theirs of regarding Jesus as God, which is not the case.
Besides, we could sense that when he told Sheikh there were no Muslims
propagating Islam in America by then, Sheikh had a good future intention of
extending his da'awah here in America by proxy, and i think that was one of the
reasons why he had sent his grandson son Imam Hassan Cisse to London learn
English Language, right after he graduated from a University in Egypt and came
back. And it was obvious that his intention for Imam Hassan was to target
America and the western world in general for da'awah or propagation of the
religion, as he was known to have done globally.
And he did that to emulate his
beloved Prophet s.a.w. who had sent Zaid bun Haritha to the Jewish land to
learn Hebrew for da'awah purpose. No wonder he wrote these stanzas in his
qasidah/poem(one of my favorite lines):
ترى كل مفعولى بفعل محمد*
وحالي وتمييزي إليه يشير
إذا سار خير الناس سرت
وراءه* وإن حل يوما فالمسير بعيد
You would see my action akin to the actions of Muhammad s.a.w* And my
character and my differencition (between right and wrong) points toward him
When the best of mankind walks I walk behind him* Where he would reach
stop i would also stop, else the journey would be far (for me without getting
to the rightful destination)
And WALILAHIL HAMD, this has been achieved, because Imam Hassan Cisse
came to America on several occasions and converted many African Americans,
Hispanics and White people to Islam and took many of them to Kaolack in Senegal
to learn the Qur’an and Islamic Knowledge. He even brought an American Muslim
sister to be cooking for them, because the Senegalese diet was totally
different from that of those they eat in America, all in a bid to make them
feel at home and study. And Alhamdulilah, we now have some brothers and
scholars here in America who had benefitted from this mentoring of Imam Hassan
in our midst. Some of them are: Sheikh Muhammad Abdullahi, Abu'l HassanAbdul-Malik, Ibrahim Dimson, Osman Dimson, Mahmoud Cisse etc. And these
brothers are really making great impact for Islam on social media and in their
various communities.
